The board of directors is in the core of the corporate governance, has very important influence on the coordination of the relation among the shareholders, the board of directors, the management and other stakeholders, and the operating management of the corporate. In recent years, the gender diversity on the corporate board of directors, that is, the female directors take part in the corporate governance, has become an important issue in the field of the corporate governance. And the female directors to take part in the governance impact the operation of the board of directors and the corporate performance, which make it to be the important influencing factor of the board governance.Foreign academics have made significant headway in the field of women in the boardrooms, but in our country the study of gender structure of boardrooms has not attract economists’eyes. And there is a considerable number of empirical analysis excluded banking.This paper reviewed the relevant literature, based on the theory we analyzed the influence that board gender diversity brought to the commercial banks performance. Theoretical basis, Based on2007-2012data of China’s35commercial banks, by using accounting index(ROE、EPS), did empirical study of the influence on the commercial banks performance by gender diversity in the boardroom. Based on the comprehensive analysis of the empirical research findings? the paper summarizes the issue of the female directors’participation on the corporate governance and puts forward some proposals, and then expounds the research prospect.The result shows that the proportion of women directors have no effect on bank performance; Changes in the number of women directors in the board of directors had no significant effect on the financial performance of banks; The women directors attendees have a negative impact on commercial banks performance; The education of the female director have a positive impact on the level of bank performance.The innovation of this paper is:first of all, the innovation of research perspective. At the same time also introduced behavioral variables to measure female directors----the average rate of female directors attend board meetings, enrich the research content about female directors, bring certain enlightenment and help for the future research.The mainly deficiency of this article is that the sample size is relatively small; the conclusion of the empirical analysis may be have a deviation. At the same time, index variables are not comprehensive, they will also affect the results of the study.
