A Comparative Study On Porformanco Evaluation Method Of Listed Steel Companies

The steel industry plays an important role in the national economy; it’s a pillarindustry of the national economy and is directly related to the development of variousindustries, while the steel industry is also an important symbol of comprehensive nationalstrength. The listed steel companies are the representatives of the industry, theirdevelopment and performance is regard as more and more widely attention. Theperformance appraisal is significant to improve its development situation and help thegovernment relevant policy.In this paper, the writer based on the analyzing of existing research results, brieflydescribed the performance evaluation methods. By using factor analysis method and EVAmethod, based on a sample of32listed steel companies, evaluated their performance; wehave obtained different positions, and evaluated the advantages and disadvantages of themethods used. This paper further uses the CCR model and BCC model in DEA to evaluateChina’s listed steel companies’ performances. Through the selection of input and outputindicators, screening of DMU, calculating the model and other steps, the framework of acomplete set of listed companies based on DEA has been done. In the specific study, thisarticle selected20companies that listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange and ShanghaiStock Exchange as samples. From vertical and horizontal comparative analysis, I’ve gotthe concluded that the listed steel companies overall performance stability is not so strong,the development level is general. This paper also described how to improve theperformance of single company. Finally, according to the analyzation of the results and thedevelopment trend of listed steel companies, compared the methods that have used in thepaper.The research results of this paper can be used to choice the appropriate methods toevaluate the listed steel companies, and analysis the companies’ performances. It also has apractical value to judge a company’s gap to the leading companies, and then find the wayto improve their performance.
