With the opening up of the financial industry in our country and governmentpolicy supportment, many commercial banks in China have introduced foreignstrategic investors and have conducted some financial cooperation also. The ultimatepurpose of introduction of foreign strategic investors is to enhance the bank’smanagement ability and the ability to obtain benefits so as to raise the comprehensivecompetitiveness of the bank, so study the influence of corporate governance andoperating performance on the introduction of foreign strategic investors has apractical significance.This paper selects GuangDong Development Bank’s introduction of foreignstrategic investors-Citibank as a typical case, uses case studies, comparative analysis,financial ratio analysis and other research methods to study. Firstly it brieflyintroduced the background and process of foreign capital introduction, followed bythe analysis from the property rights theory, agency theory impact on the corporategovernance structure, combined with selection of specific financial Indicators fromcamel evaluation system to evaluate changes in the operating performance of the bank,finally came to the conclusion that the introduction of foreign strategic investorsplayed a positive role in these two areas. The last part summarized the experience andshortage of the case and draw some inspiration, hoping to provide some reference forthe reform of the city commercial banks,rural credit cooperatives, etc. in the financialmarkets.
