Vulnerability Evaluation Of The Tourism Economic System In Western Regions

The vulnerability and sustainable development are antithetical problems. When thevulnerability of tourism economic system is too high, it may cause a tourism crisis andaffect the sustainable development of tourism economy. Therefore, we must correctlyunderstand the vulnerability of tourism economic system. Tourism is a sensitive industry.The internal factors of instability existing in tourism economic system and unfavorabledisturbance factors existing in external environment will lead to the vulnerability issues.For more in-depth understanding of the tourism economic system’s vulnerability, thispaper constructed the evaluating indicator system from two aspects of internal tourismeconomic system and external regional composite system, and two angles of sensitivityand resilience. Then it evaluated and analyzed the vulnerability of western region’stourism economic system using the set pair analysis, entropy method and spatialautocorrelation analysis et al. Finally, put forward the countermeasures of vulnerabilityregulation.Firstly, it described the research background and significance, reviewed the researchstatus of vulnerability, defined the specific content and research methods, and explainedthe concepts and theories involved in the text. These were all laid the foundation for thewhole research.Secondly, it analyzed the driving factors of vulnerability from two aspects ofinternal tourism economic system and external regional composite system, and thencombined two angles of sensitivity and resilience to construct the evaluating indicatorsystem. And the set pair analysis evaluation method was introduced.Thirdly, based on the evaluating indicator system and model for the vulnerability oftourism economic system, it selected the western region as the research object and usedthe panel data of2004-2012years to evaluated the vulnerability of tourism economicsystem. On this basis, spatial and temporal variation characteristics of the vulnerabilitywere analyzed and the main barriers of reducing vulnerability of western region’s tourismeconomic system were found. Finally, the countermeasures of vulnerability regulation were put forward, including acorrect understanding of vulnerability, improving the tourism industry system and thetourism environment.
