Natural gas as the clean, efficient and high quality energy, was to realized as the bridgeof the traditional fossil fuels to the cleaner energy. With the suppo rt of the policy in ourcountry, china’s natural gas industry is developing rapidly, but still faces some challenges, forexample, oil, coal, foreign oil and natural gas, the new energy. In order to improve thecompetitiveness of the natural gas industry in our country and promote the rapid developmentof the natural gas industry, it is necessary to formulate corresponding competitive strategy.Based on the analysis of the natural gas industry and the alternative energy in ourcountry, this paper uses PEST model and five forces model to analyze the internal andexternal environment of china’s natural gas industry. What’s more, this paper uses SWOTmodel and four dimensional plane coordinate to set the competitive strategy of china’s naturalgas industry-SO strategy. In addition, this paper uses QSPM Matrix to choose competitivestrategy, in order to improve the competitiveness of natural gas in the alternative energy.Finally, this paper formulates some suggestions and counter measures, for example,implement the whole process of cost control; perfect laws and regulations; promote theexploration and development of the natural gas; perfect the pipeline network and the otherinfrastructure construction; promote the price reform of natural gas in our country, in order toimplement the competition strategy of the natural gas industry.
