Study On The Effect Of Interaction Between Manufecturing Industry And Logistics Industry On Export Performance Of Manufacturing

In 2008, the world financial crisis broke out, which changed the domestic and international environment for China’s manufacturing exports. Chinese manufacturing enterprises were impacted on many aspects, such as weak demands of international market, trade barriers and higher domestic labor costs. Meanwhile, logistics, as a necessary auxiliary service to manufacturing fabrication, plays an important role on conformity of production processes, production costs reduction and enhancement on export performance. Promoting the interactions between manufacturing industry and logistics industry is the power source to improve the export performance of manufacturing.First of all, views of the theory of industry value chain, transaction cost and industrial symbiosis are taken to explain reasons of the interactions between the two industries. Then with the theory of Ciccone and Hall consulted, impacts on interactions between logistics and manufacturing are analyzed in manufacturing’s costs. Analysis afterwards was performed on interactions impacts on export from the view of resources distributions. In addition, on a basis of theoretical research, this paper consults Artur and David’s empirical model drawn on export performance, to operate empirical research with Chinese 30 provinces’ data. Manufacturing is compartmentalized into four types: resource manufacturing, low technology manufacturing, medium technology manufacturing and high technology manufacturing, for further studies on two industries interactions’ effects on different kinds of manufacturer export performances. From the empirical results, the interaction between logistics and manufacturing industry has a positive relationship with manufacturing’s export performances. Besides, interactions with different manufacturing types show different influences on final results: the interaction has greater impact on medium technology manufacturing and high technology manufacturing than other types of manufacturing. Finally, according to conclusions of reality of the situation, proposals are brought up for economy policies, manufacturing enterprises and logistics companies.
