How to realize the reasonable and effective use of land resources, realize the sustainable development of land, the fundamental problem is to make the structure of land more reasonable and more scientific direction of development. This paper discusses the spatial evolution of the land use structure in Chang an District, Xi an, and predicts the future of land distribution. This study provides support for improving the land use efficiency of Chang an District and improving the supply capacity of land resources in Chang an District. This study first by interpretation combined orientation method for object classification and artificial visual, classification of 1990,2000 and 2009, three periods of remote sensing images, land use type map, then to fractal theory as the foundation, the land use structure were fractal analysis, finally the application of Markov CA model for 2020 land utilization were predicted. The results show that:(1) Chang an District land use spatial structure in accordance with the laws of the fractal, Chang an District from 1990 to 2009 land use the average fractal dimension of size as follows: construction land> forest land> grassland> waters> cultivated land, construction with the boundary dimension D mean value is biggest, illustrate the construction with the pattern shapes the most complex, the boundary dimension of cultivated land is the use of minimal. The average stability index of the boundary dimension and the value of the fractal dimension are the opposite of the construction land stability, which means the construction land is unstable.(2) Using the Markov cellular automaton model to simulate the land use in Chang an District in 2020, verify the feasibility and practicability of the Markov-CA model.(3) From the results on the classification of image and the 2020 forecast, reduce the area of arable land in the continuous, construction area in increasing, from 1990 to 2020, area of farmland by accounting for 46.93% of the original total area reduced to 34.09%, construction from the face of the ground product from 4.16% of the original total area accounted for increased to 18.89%. With the development of Chang an District, the construction land occupied agricultural land will continue to increase, agricultural land will continue to decrease, the process of urbanization with agricultural population constantly transforming to non agriculture agricultural population with constantly changing into non-agricultural land and accelerating.
