Geographical indications identify a commodity as originating in the territory of a country, or a region or locality in that territory, and a given quality, reputation or other characteristic of the commodity are essentially attributable to its geographical origin. However, the concept of geographical indications appeared late in China, and current research on geographical indications has been limited to the area of Intellectual Property protection and single geographical indications. In this paper, taking the geographical indications announced by the State Administration for Industry and Commence, General Administration Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine and the Ministry of Agriculture branches as the research object, we empirically analyze the spatial distribution characteristics of geographical indications, discuss the factors which influence the distribution of geographical indications with the method of correlation analysis, and make a study of the tourism development pattern of geographical indications.This paper consists of six parts. The first part is an introduction as overall grasp to whole paper, in which the research background, review research at home and abroad, research content, method and significance are introduced.The second part is the division of the various stages of the development of geographical indications, obtaining the evolution of geographical indications.The third part is the spatial distribution characteristics and influencing factors of geographical indications product. Geographical indications differs significantly in the distribution of the four regions of China, most of which are in eastern area while northeastern area the least. In term of the average number of geographical indications in interior regions, the largest number is in eastern area and western regions least. The number of geographical indications in different provinces varies widely in term of the spatial distribution, and most of them belong to Shandong Province. Different geographical indications have different distribution characteristics in China. Geographical indications such as tea products, livestockand aquatic products, handicrafts products, fruits and vegetables and flowers products concentrate in the eastern region, while geographical indications category of wine products, food and medicine products concentrate in the western region, and northeast area has the least number of each geographical indications category. Fujian Province has the largest number of tea and flower products and Shandong Province has the largest number livestock and aquatic products, handicrafts products and fruits and vegetables products among all the provinces. Meanwhile, Sichuan Province has the largest number of wine products, food and medicine products. After analyzing, the factors affected the spatial distribution of geographical indications, are mainly related to the level of social and economic development, population, natural environment, historical culture and policy.In the fourth part, we discuss tourism resource type of the geographical indications and tourism development pattern. There are many types of geographical indications, and they are excellent tourist resources with good quality, regional and value. Geographical indications tourism resources mainly include natural landscapes category, features architectural, cultural festivals and process technology. Taking the tourism resources of geographical indications into consideration, the part focuses on tourism development pattern which is put forward in terms of unified development, location characteristics and product category. Unified development pattern mainly includes standardized production and marketing of tourism commodities; location analysis include government-led, scenic-led and self-development types; product category divides the corresponding tourism development patterns according to the eight product types of geographical indication.The fifth part is the conclusion part, including six conclusions, pointing out the innovation points and the further research direction.
