In this paper, I study research and development persons. In the perspective of human geography, I analyze the regional distribution of R&D personnel, distribution of industry, and spatial factors. Then I summed up the temporal evolution of Chinese R&D personnel and its influencing factors.Firstly, I analyze the evolution of R&D staff in China from the macro, meso and micro process separately and found that:On the temporal scale, I conclude that during the decade 2000-2010, Chinese R&D staff accelerated growth trend by using growth and range analysis. The proportion of the world was also rising. In 2008 the total amount of Chinese R&D personnel ranked the first in the world. Another classification of activity, the dominant position of the test and development activities personnel has become increasingly prominent. The classification of executing agency, the dominant position of enterprises became more apparent. But the number of researchers in Chinese R&D staff should be improved. In the level of eastern, central and western zones, the growth rate of eastern R&D personnel was fastest. And the proportion was also rising. In the six economic regions, the growth rate of central and southern R&D personnel was fastest. The differences of relative growth rat during Chinese provincial R&D personnel became gradually narrow after 2000.On the spatial scale, I found that the distribution of R&D personnel in the eastern, central and western zones was increasingly unbalanced using the Gini coefficient. the six economic regions, R&D personnel mainly gathered in the eastern, northern, central and southern zones. Then I analyze the cold and hot pattern of provincial R&D personnel with Getis Ord spatial autocorrelation model. The high-density area of Chinese R&D staff in 2000 was concentrated in Shanghai and Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei region. This distribution was punctate and planar. The high-density area of Chinese R&D staff in 2005 was mainly concentrated in the Jiangsu, Shanghai, Beijing and Tianjin region. The distribution was planar. The high-density area of Chinese R&D staff in 2009 was mainly concentrated in the eastern coastal. The distribution was zonal.Secondly, I obtained the geographic concentration of Chinese R&D staff in the tertiary industry is high in 2009 by using weighted average Gini coefficient. But I found that spatial association of R&D personnel in the second industry is strong with the analysis of Moran I index. On the one hand, the eastern R&D personnel structure was more diverse than the western region by using the coastal provinces specialization index. On the other hand, the northern R&D personnel structure was lower than the southern region. Finally, I obtained the level of economic development, the proportion of urban population, the number of college students and other indicators are the main factors affecting spatial distribution of R&D staff by using factor analysis and regression analysis. The innovation of this thesis lies on: firstly, using Getis Ord spatial autocorrelation model to analyze cold and hot pattern can clearly express temporal evolution of Chinese R&D personnel. Secondly, the results of geographic concentration and specialization of Chinese R&D personnel provide a theoretical reference for R&D activities and the industrial layout in China. Thirdly, I put forward the the factors affecting the spatial distribution of Chinese R&D personnel, based on the study of the talent influencing factors and in combination with the current situation of R&D personnel.
