Large-scale enterprises and SMEs serve as indispensible parts in the development of economy. In recent decades, with the rapid transformation of economy, large-scale enterprise continuously holds the advantages in operation philosophy, assets scale, science and technology as well as the government policies and act as the mainstay of the development of economy. While the SMEs support the relief of unemployment stress, the revolution of technology, the blossom of large-scale enterprise and the satisfaction of variation required by the society, and thus push the economic development forward.The support of industrial policies and laws make the SMEs hotspot of the public concerns. However, the SMEs are still facing financing difficulties. Commercial banks, as the significant participants and sponsor of economic development, should eradicate the contempt and limitation to credit service of the SMEs due to the fierce competition. Instead, the exploration of SMEs with favorable credit records and assets should be the effective pathways in reforming the operation mode, occupying the market as well as earning more profits. This is the inevitable outcomes resulted by the country’s policy and necessary process of the self-improvement of the commercial banks.The whole paper is divided into six chapters. Chapter one is the introductory part which elaborates the topic backgrounds, research approaches and methods. The second chapter is the analysis of the financing of enterprises of different scales. At first, the passage defines the concept of large-scale enterprises and SMEs. Then it will illustrate different traits in the financing of different scale enterprises. Chapter three introduces the current management of the risk of credit extension of Bank J. This part mainly includes the structure of risk management of credit extension, current credit extension policies and the grading of risk of Bank J’s credit extension. The fourth chapter presents the credit extension risk management case analysis of the branch of Bank J in Tianjin, which is the most significant part of this topic. With a general introduction of the credit extension risk management of Bank J, Chapter 4 will compare the characteristics of two large-scale enterprises and four SMEs in the following six aspects: macro-environment, policy tendency, loan approval process, credit grading standard, guarantee types and financing principal. Then, Chapter Five will raise the advices for Bank J concentrating on the problems stated above. At last, Chapter Six will give out a conclusion to the previous chapters and this topic.
