Recent years, along with the remarkable change of social structure, people’s value have been undergoing a big change.More and more people do not view work as a tool to make a living, they want to find life meaning through their job and obtain self-worth.Hence, in this social background,researches about Calling have got more and more attention, becoming the new angle to explore the relation between human and work. The last century, the 1980 s, American sociologists Bellah(1986) first proposed that an individual’s work values have three orientations: to make a living-oriented( job orientation), career-oriented(career orientation) and calling-oriented orientation. With the further development of Work orientation research and social development, Calling orientation has become the research focus.In the organization and management field,Calling refers to the job that one eager to engage. As a dynamic construct, one’s calling may unergo several stages, such as searching a calling, perceiving a calling and living a calling.Earlier researches had showen that Calling had significant effects on individuals’ work behaviors and attitudes. However, acoording to the latest researches, there exsists a key distinction between perceiving a living and living a calling, the effects of perceiving a calling and living a calling are different.Hence, it is necessary to explore the influence difference of perceiving a calling and living a calling. What’s more, in the context of china, there exists few research about Calling, hence, this research try to explore the structures of perceiving a calling and living a calling and choose work engagement, intrinsic work mtivation and turnover inclination as outcome variables to compare the different effects of perceiving a calling and living a calling.This research designed the questionaire of calling-perceiving and calling-living and explored their structures, Based on the questionaire,tihs study compared the effect of presence of a calling and live out a calling. According to the exploratory factor analysis,the construct of perceiving a calling have there dementions:work meaning,purpose and altruism, the construct of living a calling also include there dementions:work meaning,self-actualization and altruism. Perceiving a callling have positive effect on work engagement and intrinsic work motivation, but affect turnover intention weakly. To be specific, the demention of altruism has the greatest impact in work engagement, purpose has the greatest impact in intrinsic work motivation.While, the relation of living a calling and work engagement, intrinsic work motivation and turnover intention was in line with the prediction. Living a calling have positive effect on WE and IWM, have negative effect on turnover intention. Specifically, work meaning and self-actualization affect work engagement most heavilly, self-actualization influence the intrinsic work motivation most.Compared with the previous researches, this research has three innovative points:This research designed the questionaire of calling-perceiving and calling-living and explored their structures in the context of China; In the context of china, the structures of perceiving a calling and living a calling are different; In the context of china, perceiving a calling had positive effects on work engagement and intrinsic work motivation.
