A Study On The Problems Of Tourism Environment Ethics In China And The Corresponding Solutions

With the development of China’s economy and the improvement of the living standards of Chinese people, the scope and the form of tourist activities have become more extensive and diverse. However, the environmental problems caused by the low level of tourism management and the uncivilized behavior of tourists have subsequently came out. With the tourist environment has been severely damaged, people gradually realize the importance of tourist environment protection. Though the theoretical studies on such problems have got a lot of academic achievements, and the relevant authorities have intensified the management and the investment in the tourist environment protection, the fundamental problems are still unsolved. Only under the action of studying the problems from the perspective of ethics, enhancing the public awareness of tourist environment protection and making people consciously regulate their travel behavior, the problems can be solved then. This thesis puts forward a study on the problems of tourist environment from the perspective of ethics with the methodologies of documentation and experience summarization.This thesis consists of five chapters. The first chapter gives a brief introduction to the purpose and the significance of the study, literature review at home and abroad, research methodologies and the innovation points. Chapter two introduces the relevant theories of tourism environment ethics, which include the definition and the meaning of tourism environment ethics as well as the theoretical basis and the main principles of tourism environment ethics. Based on the previous introduction, the third chapter clarifies the problems of tourism environment ethics in China, in which are the ignorance of natural value, the violence of natural rights and ecological justice. Chapter four systematically analyzes the reasons of the problems of tourism environment ethic from the perspective of tourists, tourism development, tourism operators, travel agencies and the government. As the key part of the thesis, chapter five recommends the solutions to the problems. The problem solving of tourism environment ethics is helpful to maintain the ecosystem balance and protect the natural environment from destruction. Based on the four solutions of strengthening the education of environmental ethics for tourists, restricting the business behaviour of tourism developers and operators in accordance with the principles of environmental ethics, carrying out the education and training of environmental ethics for thetravel agencies and fulfilling the responsibility of protecting tourism environment for local governments, the state of harmonious co-existence between tourism and natural environment will be achieved and the sustainable and healthy development of China’s tourism industry will be realized.
