As the Internet stormed the world, the ascending Internet users as well as their online purchases have caught the eyes of some elites on hotel business. Cyber world has been the new front for all the competition and cooperation among star hotels. Cases of online marketing on hotel business are not rare today thanks to the Internet. However, most of hotels achieve no further but implanting commercials which could help them to build a good reputation and awareness. A few of them are smart enough to establish their own websites, but instead of employing the Internet as a marketing platform, unattractive content and limited function make it no better than just another hotel commercial. By now only very few of hotels put emphasis on online marketing and regard it as a main sales approach or launch an online marketing strategy systematically and globally.When it comes to online marketing on hotel business, a lot of studies have been done from different perspectives by many academics. Much experience has been drawn, in spite of which, among all those theories on online marketing, we still couldn’t find a complete, systematical summary of online marketing method and theory. Also, telling from the practice of online marketing done by some certain hotels, it’s not hard to find we are in lack of a series of explicit online marketing strategies and detailed measures.Buena Vista Gulf Hotel Yantai is a 4-star hotel integrating catering, boarding and meeting service, which is a typical star hotel representing high awareness and powerful influence in Yantai. The stems of their business focus on catering and boarding, several branches have been opened so far.After going through relevant references, I summarized domestic and foreign online marketing theories and compared online marketing to traditional marketing, clarifying the characteristics and conception of online marketing, in addition to the comparison between which and traditional marketing. With the guidance of certain theories, I analyzed the operation of Buena Vista Gulf Hotel Yantai as well as its inside and outside environments. Referring to the domestic and foreign experience, I pointed out their problems exposed while practicing online marketing and proposed my suggestions from three respects-online marketing platform, online marketing approaches, brand online marketing. In the end, besides summing up the popular online marketing skills, I listed the advantages of all kinds of online marketing methods as well and offered some specific steps for the hotel to follow.
