The Development Strategy Research On Cloud Computing Industry In Yangpu District Of Shanghai

The fast development of cloud computing brings new opportunities and chanllenges. In this paperwe review the background of this new industry and analyze the weaknesses of the development of cloud computing in China. Our research questions include how to build a cloud computing industrial park; how to make use of all kinds of outside resources to build a industrial park 2.0 with unique competitive advantages; how to provide full and long term support to small and tiny cloud computing companies; and how to quickly and efficiently archieve the clustering of cloud computing related companies to build a benchmark for the cloud computing based industry. With the theoris from platform economics and business ecosystems, we extend "cloud computing" from a technical concept to industry level one. To answer those questions, we conduct a case study based on the development of a cloud computing industrial park in Yangpu District, Shanghai, China and use SWOT analysis to anlyze its inside and outside environment. We propose developing strategies for this industrial park from the aspects of building brand advantage; quickly responding to requests from clients; optimizing resource allocation and making use of the unique advantages in data collection and analyzing in Shanghai. The value of this paper is that we start from a narrow concept "cloud computing" and analyze the development of the whole related information industry. We design strategies for how to build industrial park and how to archieve the clustering of related companies based on real business environment. Our findings not only bridge the gap between existing theories but also can be used to guide managerial practices.
