A Study In The Impacting Factors Of Chinese OFDI Location Choice

Since 2001 the implementation of the strategy of "going out", Chinese foreign direct investment (OFDI) has maintained the momentum of rapid growth. Flow of OFDI is ＄84 billion in 2012. China becomes the third largest foreign investor in the word after the United States and Japan (UNCTAD,2013). With the development of Chinese OFDI, the problem of location choice becomes a hot spot of the academic concern and study. The existing literatures on Chinese OFDI location choice problem study are mostly just before the financial crisis.With the change of the domestic and international situation, Chinese OFDI location choice has changed after the 2008 financial crisis. Therefore, it is necessary for us to study of Chinese OFDI location choice after the financial crisis, compare different location choice factors of before and after the crisis and provide Chinese enterprises advice under the new situation of OFDI location choice.Firstly, I comb the domestic and foreign relevant theory of the OFDI location choice and summarizes domestic and foreign scholars’study achievements of Chinese OFDI location choice in this paper.while theoretical analyzing the change of Chinese OFDI location choice before and after crisis, through the analysis of the change of location factors in host country before and after the financial crisis theory.Secondly, I analyze the development status of Chinese OFDI after the crisis.I also analyze comparatively Chinese OFDI location choice and the reasons from the four aspects of intercontinental, country, the domestic various regions and industries before and after the financial crisis in this paper.Then, with panel data and the model, I analyze the change of influence factor of Chinese OFDI location choice before and after the financial crisis. The outbreak of the financial crisis in the United States is considered as the boundary. Through regression analysis respectively of the 89 countries’panel data with 2003-2007 and 2008-2012,I compare the results and give an explanation and illustration. Further, I put the sample countries into the developed countries and developing countries and analyze comparatively the change of Chinese OFDI into developed countries and developing countries during the financial crisis in this paper.At the end, I combine the status of Chinese OFDI with conclusion of study. From the national level, I provide Suggestions of expanding the space of investment in developing countries and improving the quality of the investment in developed countries. From the enterprise level, I provide some targeted policies and recommendations to resources seeking, market seeking and strategic assets seeking of enterprises.
