The Productivity Evaluation Of Tianjin Manufacturing Industry

In modern industrial process, manufacturing promote the economic growth and economicdevelopment of the important pillar industry. Its strong competitiveness would attractdomestic and foreign investment, improve the international balance of payments, intellectualcapital and innovation capacity of the State, then promote research work development,promote the industry development and labor employment."The Twelfth Five-Year Plan" ofTianjin clearly states that it is important to adhere the new road to industrialization,intensifying the restructuring, vigorously develop strategic emerging industries, pillarindustries to strengthen the eight competitive development, accelerate industrialagglomeration, extend the industrial chain, and enhance industrial development quality andefficiency and levels. Then it must build strategic emerging industries for the lead, dominantpillar industries to support the emerging industrial system. However, in long term thedevelopment of regional manufacturing has low productivity, poor allocation of resources.The industry has huge potential for industrial competitiveness advantage. Therefore, it isnecessary to systematic, comprehensively, and scientific analysis the manufacturing’scompetitiveness and productivity change. Its impact mechanism for optimization of industrialorganization would improve manufacturing competitiveness, promote the coordinateddevelopment of the whole industry in Tianjin. These have important theoretical and practicalsignificance.The purpose of this thesis is to achieve analysis of changes in manufacturingcompetitiveness and productivity metrics, trends and the impact mechanism. It use locationquotient theory to calculate the competitiveness of Tianjin manufacturing and then classify theindustries. Then it use DEA-Malmqusit index to estimate2001-2011Tianjin manufacturingindustry productivity changes. Then it compares the differences and correlations of locationquotient and productivity within Tianjin manufacturing industries. Finally, the construction ofmanufacturing industry productivity and its influencing factors will be measure and thenproposals to improve.The dissertation found that Tianjin manufacturing industry location quotient greaterdiversity than its productivity changes. TFP change is mainly dependent on TG. There aremany differences among management, nationalized business, medium-sized enterprise’s scale,R&D and HR change to TFP, TE, TG.
