There is a gap in our country studying the earnings management and asset impairment project compare with foreign.The earnings management and asset impairment project began in the80’s in foreign,however our country started relatively late.At present,with the development of the socialist market economy,negative effect of earnings management of listed companies in our country has become more and more serious.Earnings management as a double-edged sword,if more than a reasonable degree,get in the way of neutrality of accounting information,misleading investors.Selectivity of asset impairment provision and turn it back and informality,be one of the main means of earnings management of listed companies.Our country promulgated in2006"the accounting standards No.8-asset impairment criteria" for the original rule made significantly revised and perfected,With the introduction of the concept of group assets" and "asset impairment loss provisioned shall not turn back"is new feature,to some extent inhibited the earnings management behavior of listed companies。But there is no denying the fact that,the current accounting standards are still have shortcomings and loopholes, Combined with the corporate governance structure,system of internal control as well as the problems of external audit supervision, left a certain space for earnings management. The real estate listed companies as the pillar industry of national economy, has played a crucial role for the national economic development.As a result, this article select the listed real-estate companies as the research specimen,analysis of asset impairment problems related to earnings management.Ⅰ study following contents based on the above background. Firstly,expounding the relevant theories of asset impairment and earnings management and analysing the relationship between asset impairment and management based on the analysis of the theory.Secondly, according to the earnings management motivation, the listed real-estate company is divided into four types, selecting cases to support the real-estate listed companies and using asset impairment to study the current situation of earnings management, then forming the structure of the accounting standards,the corporate governance,the internal control system and the external supervision and else aspects to analyze the cause of the earnings management.Thirdly, compared with the old criterion, i find out the current criterion of asset impairment having itself advantages, at the same time,existing some deficiency. Fourth, selecting listed real-estate from Shanghai and Shenzhen Stock Exchange between2008-2012as research samples, making assumptions, building model and being empirical analysis. According to the theoretical analysis and empirical analysis, putting forward the countermeasures of inhibition to management behaviors,for example advancing laws and regulations,revising asset impairment criteria,strengthening the external audit supervision,hoping to to give a valuable reference for the theory researchers and standard setters.
