Liaoning province government proposes Liaoning to construct into strong core technology independent research and development capacity, industrial structure reasonable, product technology more advanced and comprehensive strength in the leading domestic, international has great influence on the country of advanced equipment manufacturing base.In this paper we choose the equipment manufacturing industry in Liaoning province as the research object and evaluate the innovation ability. By synthesizing the research results of the combined with the current situation of Liaoning province, and according to the data available in Liaoning province, we build equipment manufacturing technology innovation and institutional innovation index system. Use SPSS statistical software to collect the equipment manufacturing industry in Liaoning province seven industry of2005～2009five years of statistical data of the factor analysis, the construction of the innovation ability of14variables extracted4factor, respectively in technology innovation, the system, the technical transformation force and technology research and development power. Compare the comprehensive competitiveness of equipment manufacturing industries, and put forward the ascension of the equipment manufacturing industry in Liaoning innovation ability of countermeasures. Those suggestions can guide the equipment manufacturing industry in Liaoning make more technical innovation and system innovation and improve the industry of the economic benefits.
