It has been30years since the reform and opening up. With the pushing ofmarket economy, China’s economy has been operated rapidly, science and technologyhas made great progress, and the national strength has been comprehensive increasing. However, a series of problems--such as the imbalance development of regionaleconomic, industrial resources monopoly, market disorder, corruption and so on haveexposed gradually. The Gini coefficient is higher than the majority of the developedcountries and some other developing countries, which has shown the inherentdrawbacks of capitalist society, namely the polarization of income and distribution ofsocial wealth. With the deepening of China’s reform of the ownership structure, economy with diverse forms of ownership has been developed rapidly, the non-publiceconomy has become an important pillar of China’s GDP growth, and the dominantposition of public ownership has been gradually weakened. According to the relatedMarxist theory, system of ownership of means of production determines thedistribution system, and the ownership of means of production determines thedistribution relationship. Above all, we can summarize that there is an inalienable linkbetween the changes of our country’s ownership structure and the polarization ofsocial wealth. Therefore, in order to fundamentally eliminate the polarization andachieve common prosperity, we must adhere to support the dominant position ofpublic ownership economy.First of all, by summarizing of the traditional distribution theories of westerneconomics and the related Marxist theory, through the sorting out of both thedomestic and the abroad scholars’ viewpoints on the ownership structure and the polarization, then summarizing the correlation between ownership structure andwealth polarization, this thesis has come to its theoretical basis, which is theownership of means of production determines the relationship of distribution.Secondly, with the reformation of ownership structures as the main line, reviewthe changes of different ownership sectors of the economy accounted for in the courseof the national economy since the foundation of new China, before and after thereform and opening up, whose results suggest that the rapid growth of the non-publicsectors of the economy is bound to pose a threat to the dominant position of publicownership of the economy.Thirdly, according to the evolution of China’s income distribution system, bringsin the Gini coefficient as a measure of the wealth distribution. Through the relatedanalytical method and data analysis, this paper will study how much the changes inour ownership structure has influenced the distribution of wealth since the reform andopening up, which will further verify that the shaking of the dominant position ofpublic ownership will lead to the deepening of wealth polarization. Finally, this paper will put forward some countermeasures and suggestion on thephenomenon of the wealth polarization.
