With the economic globalization, the management modernization and the societyinformatization, the competition between enterprises is increasingly fierce. As the main bodyof organizational innovation and change, employees are realized by more and more managersto participate in decision-making. However, influenced by traditional culture, there is aphenomenon of Chinese enterprises that even though the vast majority of employees know theproblem of the enterprise,they are not willing to express what they have found and choosesilence. Because of employee silence, not only organizations cannot make decisions effectively,but also the staff’s work enthusiasm and organizational loyalty are reduced. Given the negativeinfluence of employee silence, it has been a hot spot in the study of organizational behavior.Studies have shown that the manager’s leadership style and behavior have an importantinfluence on employee silence. As a kind of managers’will actions, managerial trustworthybehavior is performed in the process of interaction between managers and employees.Managerial trustworthy behavior can set up employee’s trust on the management, andemployees are willing to express their views and opinions. Besides, Managerial trustworthybehavior can create cooperative, open and supportive atmosphere. The atmosphere of mutualsupport and trust can help employees create psychological safety. So employees would notworry about interpersonal risk and the criticism of others on account of performing themselves,silence is greatly reduced at the same time.Based on the social exchange theory, this study will discuss the influence of managerialtrustworthy behavior on employee silence and the mediating effect of psychological safety inorder to provide some advice and guidance for managers. The data come from employees of Jiangsu, and286employees participated in the study. We use SPSS20.0and LISREL8.70software to analyze effective samples in the way of reliability and validity analysis, descriptiveanalysis, correlation analysis and regression analysis.The main conclusions are as follows. Both of managerial trustworthy behavior andpsychological safety have a significant negative correlation with employee silence and itsdimensions. Managerial trustworthy behavior has a significant positive correlation withpsychological safety. Psychological safety partly mediates the relationship between managerialtrustworthy behavior and employee silence as well as its dimensions. In management practice,the business manager should take measures to build supportive and trusted atmosphere toenhance employees’ psychological safety, encourage employee to make suggestions andreduce the negative effect brought by silence.
