Analysis And Empirical Study Of The Effect Of Patent Pools For Technology Diffusion

Entering the new century, the value of technical standards and patents continue to highlight, MNCs have become accustomed to add their own patents to the technology standards, and build patent pools based on the technology standards, in this way, they combine with each other, seeking high technology monopoly interests. To address this situation, the government, industry and research institutions joint together to develop the technical standard with independent intellectual property. On the other hand, multinational technology proliferation activities inevitably brings technology spillover effect. In the past, the researchers focused this problem from the perspective of economics, such as trade and other aspects to explain this phenomenon, but fewer people from the patent perspective on this issue.The purpose of this study is to verify whether foreign technical standards affect our technology R&D activities in the form of patent, and to what extent the impact is.In the end, this article select AVS-P2video coding technology standards from the series of AVS technical standards as the object to implement the study. After in-depth research and analysis, and ultimately determine the use of patent maps and social network analysis method to study the impact of foreign patents and patent holder associated with the similar foreign technology standards patent pool for our R&D incurred. By measuring key indicators, such as the results obtained patent citations, in the middle center of the patents and patent holders, the center point of the degree have confirmed such a view, the discovery of the foreign patent holders for R&D dissemination of knowledge in the process of impact cannot be ignored, and thus indirectly proved that foreign technical standards in the form of patents on our technology research and development to produce a positive effect.
