Over the years, the development pattern of "introduction, absorption and independent innovation" has been adopted by the engineering technology companies in China steel industry. Since China’s reform and opening up in1979, the steel works, especially Baosteel, Ansteel, Shougang, Wuhan Iron&Steel, have introduced advanced technologies of production, equipment, environmental protection and management in the whole process from foreign countries. On the basis of years of assimilation, absorption and independent innovation, part of companies, especially Baosteel, have comprehensively mastered technologies of steel production, process layout, equipment design and manufacture, energy saving and environmental protection, and maintenance and operation management, and some design institutes (such as CISDI, WISDRI, China First Heavy Industries, China National Erzhong Group Co.) and other steel engineering technology and service providers have begun to offer the EP and EPC services of steel engineering for home and abroad steel manufacturers. Then Baosteel engineering technology and service are provided outward, the selling operation is faced with great challenge.Baosteel Engineering Technology Group Co., Ltd. integrated some business segments of Baosteel Group’s branch companies and subsidiaries, seven major core businesses of R&D, steel structure, steel technology service, information technology, equipment manufacturing, engineering technology and engineering consultation. On the basis of the defect analysis of the current steel technology and engineering service marketing process (such as pre-sale tracking, customer development, customer management, marketing cost control, contract signing, contractual payment collection period control, customer service and business integration, etc.) of Baosteel Engineering Technology Group Co., Ltd. and the existing problem and root cause identifying, applying the comparative study method, this paper aims to learn and draw on the advanced operating experience and idea from the steel technology and engineering service marketing process of home and abroad steel engineering technology companies (such as Simak, Pohang, WISDRI, etc.) so as to consider the marketing theory and rule of the steel technology and engineering service selling business, and to fundamentally rethink and redesign the existing steel technology and engineering service selling business process of such company closely according to actual situations of the company’s positioning and mainly advanced technologies and products, in order to cut down the management links, make the repeating-process-cancelled mechanism effectively in operation, improve the market response speed.Research steel technology and engineering service marketing process recreating of Baosteel Engineering, thus forming its own domestically and internationally leading technology in the same industry, building predominant administrative organization and management ideas, training the excellent technology team and project management team, increasing its vitality and development opportunity, enhancing its operational efficiency and market response speed and making it competitive ability.
