| The Jing-Jin-Ji region is one of the most developed and vibrant metropolitan areas in China. The economic contact network of the Jing-Jin-Ji region is the product of increasing economic contact among the region. Nowadays, the Jing-Jin-Ji region’s development is not only a regional urgency but also a national strategy. Therefore, it’s really necessary to research on structure of the regional network, degree of the economic integration, and how regional network affects regional economy.When it comes to research on relationships among the region, traditional econometric method is not an option. Because traditional econometric method needs independent variables but relations among cities are dependent variables. Lack of appropriate method makes the research quite difficult. However, it also determines the value of the study. In this paper, social network analysis (SNA) was introduced to deal with the problem. In addition, the paper measured the network of the Jing-Jin-Ji region in two aspects. Results from different measurements can confirm the correctness of each other, which is another innovation point of the essay.Based on previous research, the paper tried to explain the structure of regional network and its impacts to economy from a quantitative perspective. The paper used social network analysis method to analyze the structure of regional network in the Jing-Jin-Ji region. The situation of economic contact network in this area was displayed by using the software of GIS. Then we calculated the value of economic connections and transport links among13cities in this region and analyzed the network using social network analysis (SNA) software. The result shows that density of the economic contact network is not high, so is the degree of economic integration. But take a broader look and we can see the level of economic integration is higher than the past. Besides, core-periphery spatial structure exists and the structure is relatively stable. Beijing and Tianjin are in a critical position in this area because their centralities are very high. What’s more, they are enjoying a greater status compared with the past. To explain the impact of economic contact network to regional economy, the paper also used a panel data model. The empirical results show that network density, network centrality and economic growth are positively related. In the last part of this paper, some proposals were made to upgrade the network function of regional agglomeration and speed up the economic integration process. |
