With the increasingly popular concept of corporate citizenship, the impact caused by enterprises has attracted lots of concern.The initial goal of corporate of maximizing shareholders benefits gradually turns to meet the interests of all stakeholders. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) began to be mentioned more than ever and as the final result of CSR, the report of CSR serve as a bridge between corporate and all stakeholders. Then what kind of influence the CSR report can produce on the performance of corporate? This paper may select competiveness of corporate as an entry point to study the mechanism of CSR report.In this paper, we take the CSR report as a measure of CSR, and choose the number,the quality of a CSR report and whether it is the first year to release a CSR report as dimensions of measuring CSR report. This paper try to weight the affects of reliability, relevance, innovation, integrity, balance, intelligibility of different CSR reports, which are basic characteristics of social responsibility report. By doing all of these, this paper try to measure the influences that social responsibility report makes to the competiveness.This paper selects1150companies listed on the main board of Shanghai Stock Exchange and Shenzhen Stock Exchange which have released CSR report between2011and2013. After multiple linear regression analysis we find that the disclosure of high-quality CSR report can effectively enhance the competitiveness of enterprises, which shows China’s capital market already has a more rational understanding and responding to the disclosure of social responsibility information. In this paper we don’t find a significant relationship between the number of CSR report and competitiveness of enterprises, which indicates companies cannot simply rely on the disclosure of CSR report to gain market acceptance and they should try to improve the quality of CSR report to improve their competiveness.This paper is organized as follows:The first part is an introduction. First introduces the research background and significance of the topic, and then issues related to literature review done, including corporate social responsibility theory literature review and enterprise competitiveness literature review. Based on this we proposed the research framework and innovation of this paper.The second part is theories of corporate social responsibility and corporate competitiveness. This section defines the relevant concepts and theories reputation transfer theory, signal, legitimacy theory, stakeholder theory, to deduce the mechanism of corporate social responsibility have an impact on the competitiveness of enterprises.The third part of the study design. This section includes selected data sources, corporate social responsibility index system of sample data design, corporate competitiveness index system design and control variables index design, and research hypothesis of this paper.The fourth part is empirical testing and analysis. Firstly correlation test analysis of corporate social responsibility and corporate competitiveness indicators calculated correlation. Finally, it is the analysis of the impact of corporate social responsibility to further test the ability to grow the business continuity by regression.The fifth part is the empirical conclusions and recommendations.
