The tourism development and ethnic culture protection in ancient village is an important topic of the economic and social development in national regions. Local national culture is the carrier of tourism. The healthy and sustainable development of the village can be in favor of the village’s the heritage and development of national culture. What’s more, it’s also good for the whole economic and social development of the village. In recent years, with the development of western regions, a number of relatively backward ethnic villages have been developed in it’s economy through tourism development. Because the people, the culture, the land, the industry and the landscape etc. are unique in these places. And local inhabitants have gained considerable economic benefits through it. But at the same time, people also need to accept the fact that during the process of tourism development, foreign culture will inevitably impact local culture. It is likely to make local national culture lose its original characteristics little by little, and gradually be assimilated into the outside world. Furthermore, this kind of phenomenon will lead the local or even the whole region’s tourism development into an unsustainable model.To solve the existing problem and finally lead to balanced development, enhance the sustainable tourism development of ethnic areas. This article takes Huangdu Dong village, Tongdao county, Huaihua city as the study field. Investigating the present situation of tourism development in Huangdu and the village residents’ participation in tourism development, the current situation of local ethnic culture, the residents’ view on the development of local tourism economy and their opinions etc. From the perspective of tourism development and cultural protection, the objective rules of culture and tourism development are analyzed systematically in this article. Related concepts of ethnology are used in this paper to analyze the feasibility factors of the development of local tourism. In view of the series of characteristics and problems appeared during the process of culture protection, the most suitable developing path, which would be suitable for local tourism development and culture protection, will be discussed in this paper. This article aims to resolve the contradiction in the process of tourism development, put forward modern development and achieve the purpose of improving residents’ living standards at all levels in Huangdu area.There are altogether six chapters in this article, with introduction and ending words not included. In part of introduction, the study backward, study methods, main contents etc. are introduced. Chapter one is the introduction of Huangdu dong village. The history, tourist environment and tourism resources are introduced in this part. Chapter two is about the current situation of tourism development in Huangdu village. Current tourist attractions, service facilities etc. are introduced in this part. Chapter three is about the tourism resources integration, including tangible cultural heritage,intangible cultural heritage and other kinds of cultural resources. Chapter four is about the culture protection and it’s inheritance. In this part, a lot of experience of culture protection and it’s inheritance are stated. In chapter five, the existed problems in the tourism development of Huangdu Dong village are summarized mainly form three aspects, culture protection and inheritance, tourism development and management system. Based on these problems, the author proposed corresponding countermeasure. And in the last, the author summarizes the experience of cultural protection and inheritance to solve the existing problems of the village and finally guide this village to a sustainable development.
