Research On Trade Competitiveness And Complementarity Between China And Russia

China and Russia, the world’s significant emerging economiesand global comprehensive strategic partnershipas adjacent, have stable geopolitical location. According to the gravity model, the two countries have the advantage of trade. In recent years, bilateral trade volume between China and Russia is growing faster, but the trade scale is still small. The two countries’ trade development is not stable, which is not match with the political relations and the international status between the two countries The article tries to study trade competitiveness and complementarity between China and Russia from the perspective of technical structure of export, which is conducive to make appropriate trade policy about Russia and promote the development of bilateral trade between China and Russia.This paper first divides 239 kinds of products into 10 categories, according to the classification standard of product technology from Lalls.Based on the classification, the paper analyzescomparative advantages and change trend of export products among different technical content, and studies competitiveness and complementarity of bilateral trade. Then the paper analyzes trade scale, trade structure and their change trend between China and Russia on the whole, and points out four questions about small trade scale, slow growth rate, slow technical level and single trade structure. Then the paper uses five kinds of theories form the perspective of theory and four index from the perspective of empirical analysis to study competitiveness and complementarity of trade between China and Russia, which concludes that bilateral trade has strong complementarity and small competitiveness. It refers to the contradiction that even though it has strong complementarity between China and Russia, trade scale is still small and trade growth is slow. Finally, the paper analyzes the existing reasons as to the main problem of trade between China and Russia and put forward to corresponding countermeasures and suggestions.
