Based on a situation which various evaluation index sets considered by different decision makers, the method for group decision making with different evaluation index sets aims at an optimal result by means of the information aggregating model and the ranking approach of alternatives. In the real world, the decision makers usually come from various departments or organizations, they have various personal preferences and different ways of thinking. In consequence, the decision makers concern different evaluation index sets when they evaluate the same decision making problem.So far. the group decision making problem with different evaluation index sets can be found in many fields. However, the corresponding decision making method is not popular, particularly when the evaluation information is described by fuzzy linguistics.Therefore, it is necessary to study the decision making problem with different evaluation index sets.This thesis has mainly finished the following works:First, come up with the linguistic soft sets and its operator. Considering the situation when the evaluation information is described by fuzzy linguistics, the definition, operations and properties of linguistic soft sets are presented based on fuzzy soft set theory.Second, come up with the group decision making method with different evaluation index sets based on linguistic soft sets. By discussing the group decision making problems with different evaluation index sets, the information aggregating model and ranking approach of alternatives with different evaluation index sets are presented. In this way, all the alternatives can be ranked.Third, a case about recruitment with different evaluation index sets is analyzed. By means of the information aggregating model and the ranking approach of alternatives based on linguistic soft sets, the decision making problem of recruitment was solved, which demonstrates the effectiveness and feasibility of the decision making method considering multi-department and different evaluation index sets.By the end of this thesis, the main research results and conclusions, major contributions and limitations, and the needing work for further research are summarized.
