Being through several thousand years of development history, agriculture has gradually evolved from primitive agriculture, traditional agriculture into modern agriculture. Compared with traditional agriculture, modern agriculture focuses more on the efficiency and benefits, agricultural development in harmony with the environment, as well as the sustainable development for mankind. With the rapid development of our country’s economy and the sustainable growth of agriculture, the modern agricultural development has been promoted comprehensively, and due to the favorable geographical and natural conditions, the modern agricultural development in northeast of our country is always at the forefront in the whole country; therefore, the study of modern agricultural development on northeastern area not only benefits the local development, but also provides reference to the modern agricultural development in other areas of our country. This essay takes Dawa county, Panjin city, Liangning province as the research object, through using the method of spot investigation and literature research, it analyzes comprehensively the modern agricultural development of Dawa county, and puts forward the corresponding solutions and suggestions in view of existing problems.The essay includes the introduction and four chapters. The introduction introduces in detail the background and significance of the topic selection, the research status at home and abroad, and the innovation and inadequacies of the essay. The first chapter mainly describes the basic concepts and theoretical foundations of agricultural development. Basic concepts include the concept of agriculture and modern agriculture, the characteristics, mode and type of modern agriculture. With respect to the basic theories of agriculture, the author chooses four which are benefit for the analysis:Schultz’s theory of transforming traditional agriculture, Yujiro Hayami and Vernon Ratan’s theory of induced innovation, sustainable development theory of modern agriculture and green agriculture theory of our country.The second chapter analyzes the development status and advantages of modern agriculture in Dawa county, through spot investigation and data collection and analysis for recent five years, the author outlines in detail the current modern agricultural development level of Dawa county and illustrates it by means of diagram. The next chapter analyzes the strengths and weaknesses, the opportunities andchallenges to develop the modern agriculture of Dawa county in ways of SWOT model diagram. The strengths include the district advantage, the development advantages of main industries, the basic condition advantages of developing modern agriculture, the deep technology promotion and environment protection. The weaknesses include the contradiction between financial revenue and expenditure, small scale of industrialization base, the weakness of agricultural technology promotion and innovation mechanism, and the imperfect of supporting mechanism. With respect to the opportunities, it mainly lies on the supporting from the nation to modern agriculture and the increasing year by year of product demand. However, where there is advantage, there is disadvantage, for example, the natural disaster and large amount of alternative products.The last chapter illustrates the solutions about how to development modern agriculture of Dawa county, on the basis of the overall strategy and target of Dawa county. Through combining the practical situation of Dawa’s modern agricultural development, the author elaborates in detail what should be paid attention and where could be improved from these six aspects: capital input, main industries, leading enterprises, storage logistics, technology promotion and disaster prevention and mitigation.
