For a commercial bank, accelerating the development of investment banking business is a way of significance to get and to enhance competitive advantage, which can bring profit growth, can lead a new channel to get intermediary income, can reduce the economic capital occupied and can satisfy different and multiple needs of customers.With the continuous development of the investment banking business of the domestic commercial banks, a new stage has been gotten into from the initial,in which there are full ranges of and matching scale of investment banking business, that has made the domestic commercial banks can compete with those well-known international investment banks, and made them have the space to live and the right of discourse. In such a circumstance, risk management of investment banking business in a commercial bank has to be urgently put on the agenda. While in China investment banking and commercial banking is still in separate operation, the development of investment banking in commercial banks is an attempt to mix the two from separate with no experience. From this point of view,this article takes the existing circumstances and the corresponding measures of the risk management of investment banking business in Suzhou branch,ICBC as a case.Drawing on the experience of the German investment banking risk management, in this article I put forward a number of advices and targeted measures on risk management of investment banking for commercial banks in China.
