The Study On The Core Competitiveness Of Chinese Commercial Banks Based On Structural Equation Modeling

Chinese commercial banks are under the pressure of more and more intense competition with the further opening of the financial market and the further deepening of the marketization. The original management system and mode of commercial banks can not meet the competitive the environment. In order to adapt to the trend of financial reform and meet the challenges, commercial banks should cultivate their own core competitiveness. The situation has also promoted the academic research on the core competence of commercial banks. But most of the scholars have focused their attention on studying the financial information of these banks. In this thesis, the core competitiveness is divided into three elements which are resources, capacity and environment according to its connotation. Based on the three elements, the first and second indexes are designed through the analysis of the value chain of these commercial banks. Compared with the system established by other scholars, the index data used in this thesis is easier to obtain.To a certain extent, it can reduce the subjective error. In addition, the empirical method has been used based on structural equation model in this thesis. This method belongs to confirmatory factor analysis and it is more in line with the internal logic of core competitiveness. In this thesis, the influence of intermediate variables are considered and the mixed measure method is applied to the study. Most important, it is innovative. The method firstly does confirmatory factor analysis about the index system of the three factors and obtains the intermediate variables based on the path coefficients. Secondly, it takes these intermediate variables as new observation variables to do the second-order confirmatory factor analysis.The result shows that this model fits well. Finally, it obtains the scores of the core competitiveness and the three elements, then it sorts these commercial banks based on the scores. The last part of the thesis puts forward the countermeasures and suggestions.
