Abstract/Summary:
Since the 21st century, China’s economic and social development has been developed rapidly, also accompanying increasing contradictions between social problems and economic growth. Issues like corporates’social responsibility has been an important research field of theory and practice. As an economic unit, enterprises have to maintain a competitive edge in order to maintain good vitality. Thereby, this article will discuss the contradiction between social problems and economic development from the perspective of corporate social responsibility, elaborating the corresponding empirical research, which focuses on three aspects. First, the logical direction for the study of the relationship between social problems and economic growth, which are positively related to each other; Second, there is interaction between the two, mutually benefiting from each other. Corporate social responsibility can bring to enhance competitiveness, and in turn the competitiveness of enterprises also can promote the level of implementation of corporate social responsibility management activities, thus fostering a virtuous cycle; Third, there is the hysteresis of the interacting relationship, and previous impact is likely to be greater than the impact of current period.Firstly, this research launched the theoretical analysis, generalizing previous studies and researches and made a rational hypothesis. Based on theoretical analysis, the article expanded the research with a case study, and designed two multivariate linear regression model. Considering standardisation, fairness, consistency and availability of the data, this article’s sample was A-share listed companies which released their social responsibility report for three consecutive years during 2012-2014. The social responsibility data was taken from the social responsibility RSK database, and other financial data was obtained from GTA database. This article used spss19.0 and exce12010 and other data processing software. Rational judgments were obtained and preceding assumptions were verified. Through empirical study, two conclusions can be drawn:First, CSR helps to develop and enhance the competitiveness of enterprises, and corporations should be patient due to the lagged effects of social responsibility; second, the competitiveness of enterprises contribute more to good social responsibility, and companies should not evade corporate social responsibility due to the lag effect. Finally, this study took the listed company Vanke A, with excellent performance on CSR, as a case study to propose five practical policy recommendations for better practice on CSR.Through this study on the interaction of inter-temporal, company should be enlightened the importance of social responsibility management activities. They are expected to actively carry out information disclosure, so that social responsibility management activities can get constantly improved; Meanwhile, this study recommend companies to change from passively to actively expand social responsibility activities, making it into a competitive advantage, and fully uitilising the virtuous circle between the two; Finally, the study advise that companies should not deny their social responsibilities due to hysteresis of CSR’s advantages.
