The Study Of Efficiency Of Chinese Medical Device Manufacturing Listed Companies

Medical equipment manufacturing is a special industry, closely related people’s physical health and sustainable development of national economy. With Chinese rapid economic and social development, the increasing demand of medical and health services puts medical equipment products in a more important position, especially in saving lives. There is a big gap between our products and these of European and American countries, while the homogeneous competition in China is becoming more competitive than before. Therefore, empirical research and analysis of the efficiency is of great significance to the stable development of this industry.In this thesis, I will conduct systematic analysis and empirical research on the efficiency of China’s medical equipment manufacturing industry on the basis of efficiency evaluation theory. Research methods being used include descriptive, comparative, and empirical research. Analytical tools like Deap 2.1、 DEA SOLVER 3.0 and Stata 11 will be applied in the analysis. First of all, the current development of China’s medical equipment industry will be systematically analyzed, as well as evaluation-related theories and other scholars’works. Second, data envelopment analysis and Malmquist index of total factor method will be used to measure and evaluate the efficiency of medical equipment manufacturing industry in China from both static and dynamic perspectives. Finally, through the panel data method, I will establish and revise the regression model in order to find out the factors influencing the efficiency, as well as in what degree these factors are working. At last, I will give my suggestions and measures accordingly.The empirical study shows:(1) Despite its rapid development, there are several issues existing in China’s medical equipment manufacturing industry, including the excessive number of enterprises with small scale, lack of technological innovation strength, and weak competitiveness. (2) The overall business management is too rough at present stage, along with too many noneffective administrations in enterprises and unapparent region advantages of business efficiency. There is a big gap with outstanding enterprises in developed countries. (3) Though input in the innovation field is constantly rising, the majority of them turn out to be invalid. At present stage, it would be helpful in promoting efficiency by broadening the scale of the enterprises. The improvement on human capital contributes little to level of enterprises management, but plays an important role in upgrading scale efficiency. As a result, the enterprises could improve their efficiency by strengthening staffs quality and professional skills.Finally, according to the research results, We put forward suggestions and measures to improve the efficiency of medical device manufacturing industry from the enterprise level and industry level.
