Research On Operation Efficiency Evaluation And Influential Factors Of Chinese Ports

Our country’s GDP accomplished the growth of 7.4% in 2014. It’s the first time that the growth of GDP hasn’t achieved the goal we set our economy has stepped into a brand new age The speed of economy development starts to slow down,this obviously is a challenge for ports,under such a complex circumstances,ports need to accelerate the transformation and increase efficiency.they need to know how to reduce costs and also increase the efficiency of the ports. To solve these problems,the paper focus on the research of our ports’efficiency and the influential factors of the ports efficiency.trying to figure out the influential factors of ports efficiency,so we can provide some policy basis for our ports.With these research, we are looking forward to finding a great way to drive the development of our country’s whole economy.The paper chose 18 ports’data from 2010 to 2013,using BCC-DEA model to analyze our ports’scale efficiency, technology efficiency and overall efficiency,then use port inner producing index and the development index of port city to build both a Pooled OLS model and a fixed benefit regression model.with the comparison of two models, figuring out the influential factors of each efficiency.The paper finally comes to the conclusions that the comprehensive efficiency of China’s port present a layered structure,there is a big gap between each efficiency level.The gap between the same level is very low, inland ports performed worse than those near sea.The port comprehensive efficiency has something to do with its own management production;scale efficiency of invalid influence the comprehensive efficiency of the port; the port’s scale efficiency performed poorly, led to bad performance in comprehensive efficiency. According to the average of each year’s scale efficiency trends, the scale efficiency is gradually reduced. We can see that overexpansion exists in most of our ports.The paper also finds that the better ports are functioned and the more developed the local city is,the higher the overall technological efficiency is; the better ports are functioned, the higher the technological efficiency is;the more developed the local city is.the higher the scale efficiency is.
