The Sustainability Of Dairy Enterprises In China

With the improvement of residents’ living standards, the demand for milk and milk products is increasing, so dairy enterprises have been developing rapidly. However, dairy enterprises in China still have many problems, such as the unstable quality of raw milk and dairy products, high similarity of product and the impact of import dairy products, which have a bad effect on sustainable development of Chinese dairy enterprises. If dairy enterprises cannot maintain the sustainability relatively, not only dairy enterprise’s own business will be affected, the development of the whole dairy industry will be affected too.In this context, firstly, the development status of China’s dairy industry and the current condition of operation of dairy enterprises are analyzed in this paper. And then according to the annual report disclosures data of Chinese listed dairy enterprises, the status of Chinese dairy enterprises sustainable growth is studied. The result shows that Chinese dairy enterprises achieve the sustainable growth from 2011 to 2014. Secondly, based on the triple bottom line of sustainability, this paper establishes Chinese dairy enterprises sustainability evaluation index system, and the sustainability performance of dairy enterprises is evaluated. The result shows that Chinese dairy enterprises’ economic performance and social performance is higher than the environmental performance of sustainability. And the sustainability composite index of Yili and Guangming is higher than other dairy enterprises, the sustainability composite index of Sanyuan and Tianrun is lower. Finally, based on the concept of eco-efficiency, from the aspect of input and output, this paper evaluates sustainability of Chinese dairy a-share listed enterprise using DEA method. The result shows that corporate sustainability of Sanyuan and Xibu is poor. Therefore, aiming at the existing problems of dairy enterprises, the result shows that the input of raw material and human resource is the main factor that affects the ability of sustainable development for Chinese dairy enterprise.According to the above conclusions, we put forward some relevant policy suggestions which can raise the capacity of sustainable development of the dairy enterprises in China:improve profitability of dairy enterprises and increase investment in research and development; optimize the structure of enterprise employees and improve salary and welfare of employees; enhance investment in environmental protection and make sure the implementation of energy saving and emission reduction in Chinese dairy enterprise; allocate the input of resources rationally and improve resource utilization efficiency.
