While China’s economy steps into the "new normal" phase, reforming and development have become the theme of the new era. technological innovation as the pioneer to push the reform, has no doubt to become the ultimate approach to better and faster development. As for the companies listed on the growth board, most of them are in growth period, in such a fiercely competitive market, the technological innovation show its place. As the top management team(tmt) is the leader of the reform and development of enterprises, whether their background feature and motivation will do effect on the performance of technological innovation? Due to different risk preference and different size, is there any different impact on enterprise? Based on these problem, combing through the literature and empirical research, finding that most of the studies at home or abroad are focusing on one or certain features, or the relationship between certain feature of tmt and performance of technological innovation. Thus, because of insufficient research materials, this paper based on the 2011-2014 sample companies listed on the growth board.8 characteristic variables of tmt are chosen to be explanatory variables to comprehensive examined the fully feature of senior executive team, while new numbers of patent rights every year as the explanatory variable to analyse performance of technological innovation to explain the relationship between feature of tmt and performance of technological innovation. Firstly, check the relationship among tmt characteristics, motivation and performance of technological innovation. Secondly, check the adjustment effect of motivation on tmt characteristics and performance of technological innovation. At last, based on different risk preference and scale of corporation, the whole sample was divided into two groups for further study. The empirical research shows that:(1)Four variables of tmt characteristics, in the marketed corporations on the growth board, the average level of tmt’s education, average tenur and proportion of ownership or salary have positive effect on the performance of technological innovation. while average age, the ratio of the technical background of the tmt, the chairman and general manager of two rank-one has no significant correlation. (2) from the adjustment effect of motivation, only tmt’s salary have adjustment effect between tmt charactericstics and the performance of technological innovation. (3) In the case of other conditions unchanged, different risk preference and tmtcharactericstics have different effect on the performance of innovation. higher Risk appetite of tmtcharactericstics have more apparent effect in innovation performance. on the same way,with other conditions unchanged,different scale of corporation have different effect on the technical innovation performance, and larger company tmtcharactericstics and more apparent effect.
