Tug industry, as an auxiliary transportation, provides manipulation service to assist freighter to dock and depart the port. The methods of adaptation to the markets of tug companies will not alter according to the amount of the product inventory like other industry because of its product features. Thus, the analysis of current demands of port and shipping market and its future trend should be based on the knowledge of port dynamic demands. In the context of comprehensive and accurate analysis of current and future market needs, tug companies should evaluate the production capacity under current factors. This paper aimed to provide a rational research direction on production capacity self -evaluation and a reliable theory basis on key production factors allocation to effectively avoid the waste from over production and investment and the development restriction from low production capacity. We combine the actual situation of T port (Tianjin port) tugboat Enterprises:First, after summarizing every profit evaluation methods, studying related research, comparing and contrasting the advantages and limitations of different methodologies, this paper, concluded DEA (Data Envelopment Analysis) is the most effective profit evaluation for tug operation. Meanwhile, this article adapted factor analysis as auxiliary methodology to compensate the limitation of DEA. Second, through related resources and tug industry features study, integrating a real case analysis of a China tug company by using 2014 financial data as example, this article created a tug operation profit evaluation indicator system and made correlation analysis of every index in factor analysis to extract common factors. This article also established output and input indicators in tug operation profit evaluation model by redefining the common factors in the consideration of tug industry situation. Last but not least, the author using DEA, combining the redefined output and input indicators, effectively analyzed and made a concrete evaluation to the tug operation profit of the example company. On the basis of data, the author also proposed correlated modification and strategy. This paper provided scientific basis for corporation manager and port decision maker to optimize port and tug resources allocation and promote company management efficiency.
