Since the eighteen party, especially the Third Plenary Session of the Communist Party of China comprehensively deepen reform and opening up on a new journey, China’s regional economic development has entered a new period of vigorous devel-opment, some new development trends appear.The understanding of the system and the control of regional economic development of the new trends, situation and devel-opment, for China’s regional economic development overall strategy to promote and implement, the successful completion of the successful completion of the regional eco-nomic development is very important.And the transportation industry for a country or region’s economic development plays a fundamental role.Also the transportation industry is link to the economic and other industries, is the basis for the existence and development of today’s society. In the sometime,the transportation industry occupies an important position in the national macro-control and the allocation of resources, even plays an indispensable role in land development and urban industrial layout.The relationship between transportation industry and regional economic development has gradually become a hot research spot.To analyze objectively the impact of traffic in-dustry on regional economy.and to define the status of the transportation industry in the process of regional economic development,which can make policies more scientific and has played a role in promoting coordinated and sustainable development between transportation and regional economy.However, the development of regional economy also influences the development of transportation industry, whether they can coordi-nate with each other to achieve common development is the direction of the research in this paper.Therefore, we use the coupling theory, synergy theory, and construct the coupling coordinative degree model, and combine with quantitative and qualitative research methods such as subjective weighting and objective weighting to analyze the compre-hensive development level of regional economy and transportation industry in two big systems of China and China’s 20 provincial (city), and dynamic analysis is carried out on the coupling and coordinated development of the two big systems. Through these analyses,we can put forward constructive suggestions for the coordinated development of transportation industry and regional economy in the future.In this paper, firstly, the theory of regional economy and coupling coordination degree is sorted out, then the current situations of China’s transportation industry and regional economic development are expounded, and the coupling and coordina-tion mechanism of the two major systems are explained. Finally,we select 23 related index system, use the combination weighting method to determine the weights of the two indices, Construct coupling coordination degree model of traffic industry and re-gional economy, to make an empirical analysis of traffic industry and regional economy coordinated development in the 2004-2015 period of our country and 20 province (city) in our countryThe results show that the transportation and regional economic development in China has experienced four stages of coupling coordination, which are low level cou-pling stage, the regional economy lags behind the traffic industry; Antagonist, the transportation industry lags behind the regional economy; the running in stage, the regional economy and the transportation industry promote each other, healthy de-velopment; high level of coupling stage, regional economy and transportation industry benign cycle development.At the same time, through the division of coordination de-velopment stage of China’s 20 provincial (city) coupling,wen can see the geographical imbalance in China’s transportation and regional economic development, the coupling development of the eastern region is higher than that in the western underdeveloped areas.
