Feasibility Study On YM Company’s Natural Gas Field

With the decreasing of primary energy resource around the world, some resource-based enterprises which relied on energy development have been suffered a recession period. As a result, transformation and self-development of such enterprises are the only ways to succeed. Owing to the acceleration of economic globalization, the energy enterprises will encounter more and more challenges, as well as opportunities, during the transformation process. Especially for the model and right timing, are two key points which will influence transformation deeply, or even decide the enterprises ’survival.Accordingly, it is such an important factor for an enterprise to decide when and how to carry out the transformation.This dissertation adopted exploratory research, simulation and quantitative methods. Firstly, it focuses on the transformation development (including operation and management mode, strategic management analysis, market analysis and financial analysis). And the second part is the research on the status of YM Company. Through the analyses on the whole industry and difficult issues of YM Company, it summarizes the reasons for transformation development. Besides, it also introduces feasible analyses (including national policy, market, economic, technology and risks) on transforming to natural gas field. The third part is the conclusion part which concludes that YM Company will enjoy enormous economic benefits from transforming itself to natural gas field. Based on the researches, it is known that the businesses of YM Company, together with the whole industry environment, are very likely to be eliminated by the society. In order to solve the problem effectively, combining with the industry development, this dissertation analyzes natural gas field from the views of national policy, market, economy environment, technology and risks. Moreover.it advocates adopting the method of "two steps" to develop natural gas instead of traditional process of coking. Above all, YM Company can take good advantage of the original economic accumulation and technologies for the transformation to natural gas field to gain significant economic benefits.
