| As a cluture tourism projiect, Wuzhen Theatre Festival is invested and founded by Wuzhen tourism and is held annually for three years. It has drawn rapid attention and heated discussion across China in a short term, therefore bringing Wuzhen tourism under the spotlight. The combination of tourism industry and cultural industry isn’t a new thing, however, such phenomenon as Wuzhen Theatre Festival has been rarely seen. Different from urban arts festivals, Wuzhen Theatre Festival is characterized by localization and commercialization, which enables a relatively independent operation and management. Unlike tourism performing shows, the festival quality enhances its cultural ethos as a tourism place. Through an interactive study of theatre festival and Wuzhen tourism, this paper explores how tourism industry will promote the development of theatre festival, as well as how theatre festival will highlight the cultural connotation of tourism industry. In addition, the paper will make a review of the event from the nature of artistic activities and tourism industry.This paper is composed of three chapters. The first chapter mainly describes the development process and transformation direction of Wuzhen tourism and introduces the status quo of Wuzhen Theatre Festival. The second chapter analyzes the operation of theatre festival under tourism industry, namely the influence of Wuzhen tourism from the point of theatre festival’s management mode. The third chapter discusses the long-term influence of theatre festival on Wuzhen tourism in terms of economy and social culture. |
