China is the largest vegetable production country. Vegetable production can meet domestic market demand and also provide foreign trade. Chinese vegetable exports accounted for 17.37% of the exports of agricultural products in 2014.Vegetables plays an important role in foreign trade of agricultural products. Comparative advantage theory since its inception, has always been the guidelines of international trade activities. The paper uses comparative advantage index to calculate and analyze comparative advantage of vegetable export, and use the gravity model to investigate the main factors influencing Chinese vegetable export. This paper expounds the discomfort of theory of comparative advantage in the new economic environment and change from comparative advantage to competitive advantage, so as to obtain long-term comparative advantage, The corresponding conclusions and policy Suggestions is put forward. It provides theoretical basis for vegetables in China’s foreign trade strategy.The paper summarizes the foreign trade situation of vegetables in recent years and introduces the concept of "standard revealed comparative advantage index(NRCA index)". Then it shows the changes in the distribution of vegetables comparative advantages using NRCA index of the last decade, and gives a comparative analysis of the trend in the international competition between China and the Netherlands, Spain, Mexico, the United States. The analysis of the affecting factors for Chinese vegetable export mainly reveals the volatility of comparative advantage is caused by the green trade barriers, differences of vegetables added value, price volatility, the export tax rebate policy and so on. In order to get more scientific validation of the impact factors of vegetable export, the paper uses the gravity model to verify the influence of factors such as economic scale, and geographic distance, the industrial production. However, comparative advantage theory in the new economic situation has been experiencing its opponents of the challenge of theoretical and empirical validation, presenting trend from comparative advantage to competitive advantage. Finally it focuses on studying the comparative advantage trap in our country, analyzing the difference between the comparative advantage and competitive advantage with contact, using the porter diamond model to show the influence on the six factors of national competitive advantage in the change from comparative advantage to competitive advantage.Through the full text analysis, we can draw the following conclusion: the results of dynamic study of the comparative advantages of Chinese vegetables show that Chinese vegetables overall comparative advantage is constantly weakening, which is behind the Netherlands, Spain and Mexico. Dehydrated vegetables, fresh or dried vegetable products, temporarily preserved vegetables, frozen vegetables and preserved vegetables have long-term comparative advantage, but other kinds of comparative advantage show a trend of decline. While preserved and frozen vegetables gained the comparative advantage, fresh vegetables gradually lose comparative advantage. The factors’ conclusion is that the two countries GDP growth, China’s vegetable production growth and APEC member countries and China’s vegetable exports were positively correlated, the production of export plays a direct role, the geographic distance between China and the importer and importer’s vegetable production were negatively correlated with exports. We should start from the six major factors influencing the national competitive advantage, namely "national diamond" the model, including the four basic elements such as conditions, demand conditions, related industry’s support, the structure of the enterprise strategy and competition conditions and the two auxiliary factors of government and the opportunities. Turning comparative advantage into competitive advantage to solve the problem of Chinese vegetable industry competitiveness.Combining the analysis of this paper with the final conclusion,the following Suggestions is provided: Adjusting export vegetables kind structure according to current situation of comparative advantage; Improving vegetable production aimed at influencing factors, Improving transport links; Developing the international market combined with the economic scale and APEC; Improving vegetables quality, strengthening scientific research to deal with trade barriers.
