The geological vestige resources is the essential path and resource to the acknowledges for4.6 billion years history and evolution development of earth. Geological vestige resources are precious “natural heritages”and the accurate recordings for the geological phenomenons.The geological environment and its vestiges parts are the irreplaceable and foundation to the earth’s natural resources and environments; they made profound impacts on the natural distribution of biological and development of human civilization and society. With development of technologies for exploitation and utilization of natural resources and increased requirement for primary quality of spiritual and material life, geological vestiges have become the most important exploitable resources for tourism,culture,science and education;it have remarkable scientific,educational and ecological environment value.As a development concept, the sustainable development concept consists that the development of human society,economy and ecologic have to carried on the foundation of sustainable utilization of natural resources and proper coordination of ecological environment; as a new philosophy system about the relationship between human and natural, it emphasis the harmonious development between human being and the nature have to conducted by the actions the theories of Earth system science; it is a inevitable outcome of the major ideology changes about the relationship between human being and natural. To achieve sustainable development of geological vestiges, two elements have to be considered, the sustainable usage of geological vestige resources,which have to ensure the demand for development of economy and human societies, and improvement of human living standards;and the proper exploitation and utilization of the recourse, which means the only effective approach to the sustainable development of geological vestiges is avoiding the damages for the natural resources and environment.The establishment of geo park provides new way for protection and development of geological heritages; it is the deliberate choice of modern time,has profound significance.The diversity climate, complex geological and geographical conditions of Sichuan province formed rich geological relics, large in numbers and various in types. These precious “natural heritages”areof great values in science,education and tourism;hold an important place in understanding and spreading scientific knowledge of formation and evolution of Sichuan Basin and earth science,especially about the co‐evolution of human being and environment resources.However,the current situation of Sichuan geological vestige resources is concerning,wast and irrational usage of the resources caused by locking protection and rational exploitation and utilization awareness. Some important geo resources are suffering from more and more damages in different degrees; the intrinsic value dramatically reduced even permanently disappeared; its due value did not get full reflection and display in the economic development of Sichuan province.For the Sichuan geological relics, this article done full research and investigation,analysis the protection and development situation,carried researches and reconsideration on some discovered outstanding issues, developed a experimental research on Xinwen World Geo-park, advanced some operational tactics and suggestion, strive to provide theory support for the sustainable development of geological vestige resources.
