The study of this paper focuses on the Jiugongshan-Hot Spring National Geological Park in Xianning city,Hubei province.It has integrated relevant research theories and construction experience of domestic and overseas geological parks.The purpose,significance of our research methods are clarified as follows.Firstly,from the perspective of rocks,strata,geomorphology,hydrogeology and geology,the current status of Jiugongshan-Hot Spring National Geological Park is summarized,and the general human history and natural ecology is also introduced.Then by analyzing the park development,the existing problems are pointed out:a)the lack of comprehensive and systematic investigation of landscape resources,especially the geological relics,results in a relatively low level of development,and unsustainable tourism products;b)the lack of tourism brand leads to low recognition in the domestic geological parks;c)existing tourism infrastructure services are relatively backward,and cannot fully meet the needs of tourists;d)IT infrastructure is not high,and cannot adapt to the development of big-data era;e)the protection of park geological relics need to be strengthened.Toward these existing problems,the author carried out two research study.The first study is about the detailed investigation and evaluation of geological heritage landscape resources of the Jiugongshan-Hot Spring National Geological Park.From its emergent background and the type of resources,the park's geological heritage landscape resources are divided into to 6 categories,namely,stratigraphic section,geological structure,geomorphological landscape,water landscape,environmental geological landscape and paleontology.According to the rich degree,these resources are further divided into 17 sub-categories.From the scientific value,aesthetic value and the education value of geological relics,detailed qualitative evaluations are carried out.According to industry standards,a complete classification system are built with consideration in scientific,rareness,integrity,ornamental,scale,preservation status,accessibility and protectiveness.Through careful comparative study,the park's 76 important geological relics are divided into national,provincial,local three levels.The national geological relics are three,the provincial geological relics are 34,and local geological relics are 39.Among them,three national geological relics are given details description.A complete description of the geological park landscape resources are given with supplementary discussions on two aspects:natural resources landscape and human resources landscape.All these classification highlight the geological characteristics and popular scientific values of the Jiugongshan-Hot Spring National Geological Park,and prove that it is a natural rock science textbook and valuable research materials on the evolution of transition area between Yangtze plate and the South China plate.The second study focus on the conceptual design and development of Jiugongshan-Hot Spring National Geological Park.Firstly,according to the differences of geological park feature,karst landforms and geothermal resources,overall park layout are rearranged and divided into two parks:mountain and hot springs.Around three major geological park functions,the whole park are partitioned into first level of functional areas:landscape protection area,scientific education area,and public tourism area.These three types of functional areas can be divided into detailed levels.Then,with consideration on the advantages of geological park resources,good ecological environment and solid cultural and historical sites,we design different tourism products for domestic and overseas tourists,including scientific education tourism,summer tourism,leisure,spring spa,eco-tourism,cultural tourism,etc.Among them,scientific education tourism is the central product.We will strengthen the geological park brand personality and design three different thematic study routes,including landscape sightsee,cave exploration and spa health.We also provide detailed recommendations on park infrastructure construction.The information infrastructure includes geological park databases,monitoring system,website,network systems and museums.These IT infrastructures can promote the development of intelligent tourism.The basic facility infrastructure,including road network,water supply,drainage and power communication,can improve park service quality and create a good tourism environment.Finally,combined with the classification of important geological relics in the park,four protection areas are set up,and scientific protection measures are put forward to protect animal and plant resources,cultural landscape resources and ecological environment.With these measures,this park can realize the goal of "Development in the Protection,Protection in the Development" and achieve sustainable park development.Based on the present development situation of Jiugongshan-Hot Spring National Geological Park,this paper discusses the park shortcomings during the process of construction and development.With sufficient supplementary investigation,this paper analyzes the park's landscape resources and carries out systematic and complete evaluation.Therefore,the research results improve the existing park evaluation system,provide good recommendations for park tourism,and strive to achieve the sustainable development of this geological park.Our research work help to build this park into a national first-class scientific tourism resort,and make it a leader in the development of tourism in Xianning City and one of the landmarks in Central China.
