The genera Pholcus Walckenaer,1805 and Uthina Simon,1893 belong to Family Pholcidae,Order Araneae,Class Arachnida.About 344 species of the Pholcus are known in the world,of which 119 species were found in China,78 species were found in Southeast Asia,and the species are mainly distributed in the Old World;only 3 species of the Uthina are known in the world,all the species are distributed in the Southeast Asia.Morphology and reaearch progress of the genus in China and neighboring countries are summarized in this paper.This is the result of systematic study of Pholcus after having examined more than 1,200 specimens from 8countries,and 51 new species are found.Of which 40 new species were described from Pholcus,including P.anaiensis,P.ballarini,P.bulacanensisi sp.nov.,P.cenranaensis,P.cheni sp.nov.,P.chiangmaiensis,P.difengensis,P.dongxue sp.nov.,P.duan sp.nov.,P.fuza sp.nov.,P.gonggarensis,P.gou,P.hamaensis,P.hinsonensis,P.huoxiaerensis,P.jingyangensis,P.kaebyaiensis,P.kottawagamaensis,P.krachensis,P.langensis,P.lingguanensis,P.longus,P.mueangensis sp.nov.,P.musensis,P.ping sp.nov.,P.qingyunensis,P.saidovi,P.shuguanensis,P.shuye sp.nov.,P.songkhonensis,P.subwan sp.nov.,P.tangyuensis,P.taptaoensis,P.tharnlodensis,P.tianmuensis,P.vietnamensis sp.nov.,P.wan,P.yanjinensis,P.zhongdongensis,P.zhuchuandiani;the female of P.sidorenkoi Dunin,1994 is reported for the first time;11 new species from Uthina: U.huahinensis,U.huifengi,U.javaensis,U.muangensis,U.potharamensis,U.saiyokensis,U.sarikaensis,U.sulawesiensis,U.wongpromi,U.yunchuni,U.zhigangi.The paper reported the results of a detailed study of 51 species and a new discovery of female,made a methodological improvement to the simple drawing of procursus by early scholars,and provided 106 plates with 628 figures,and 4 pictures of geography data.
