City garbage landfill is the most fundamental way to deal with municipal solid waste. Although composting, incineration, or sorting and recycling are often used to treat city garbage, but it is still necessary to make a final landfill to handle the part of more difficult to remove and residual materials.Environmental Geophysics is a science and environmental geophysics complementary and comprehensive subject which make the fusion of their respective characteristics, it is mainly focuses on the ideas and measures in Applied Geophysics to medium geophysical field and the physical environment to human life together.In the process of solving the city landfill and other related problems.The geophysical method and technology is playing an increasingly important role with its unique advantage,with the progress of geophysical technology and improve on data processing methods,it has become an important means of city garbage control and other aspects.The main content of this paper is using the four kinds of geophysical method which are high density resistivity method, ground penetrating radar method, high precision magnetic method and Rayleigh wave method to do the actual survey in an area near BeiShenShu landfill which is located in Beijing Yizhuang Development Zone (N39 ?48.055, E116 ?32.021),both the 11 lines were the North East of 60 degrees, each measured line has the length of 250 meters (including 350 lines of 115 meters),caused by the change of physical characteristics of underground medium landfill area buried garbage pollution distribution and geophysical field of the underground media by using geophysical principle. Through the four methods of data collection, the geophysical detection of landfill primary sources on the data obtained by various geophysical data processing software system, and make a drilling research in the field, compared to find out the relatively accurate geophysical methods.Through the above study, the following conclusions are obtained:The high density resistivity method can do better in the area of low pollution and high resistance region distinction; the ground penetrating radar method for shallow garbage distribution has better detection; the high precision magnetic method is not useful in detecting the effect of weak magnetic garbage; the Rayleigh wave method can do better in reflecting the distribution of the underground area and structure. By the measurement of high density resistivity method and Rayleigh wave method we can know that there is a small amount of suspected underground buried waste, and because of the existence of pollution area of landfill leachate pollution; combined with the actual observation of the area, found out that there are two area of underground pipeline detection of cement, so these two methods are suitable for city garbage conditions.
