Xinjiang Kuqa Basin Evaporites Fine Mineralogical Study

The evaporite strata during the Paleogene-Neogene period in Xingjiang Kuqa Basin are mainly salt rock and gypsum rock,containing a small amount of carbonate rock.The evaporate strata are located in the Paleogene Kumugeliemu group,Suweiyi group and Jidike group,covering all over the Kuqa Basin.Xinjiang Kuqa Basin is our country important potassium prospecting target area,while the previous researcher showed that the Kumugeliemu group contained the source of Sylvite.There are higher research extend in this area.The DZK01 drilling is one of scientific exploration drilling for finding the source of Sylvite.Its main purpose of this drilling is to find out if Kuqa Basin Kumugeliemu group containing Sylvite.The main purpose of this paper is researching and analysis the petrology and mineralogy characteristics of the DZK01 drilling evaporate.Through the described drilling core outdoor and observed mineral optical sheet,used X-ray diffraction,SEM,Anhydrite sulfur isotope test and salt rock K,Br element chemical analysis indoor to determine the characteristics of petrology and mineralogical in the Kuqa Basin evaporite and analysis the primary evaporite minerals and containing potassium mineral genesis.Provide favorable clues into the source of potash in the Kuqa Basin.The major points described as follows:(1)The kinds of DZK01 drilling's evaporate rock are:salt rock,salt rock con taining mud,salt rock containing clay-gravel,salt rock containing mud and anh ydrite,clay-gravel salt rock containing anhydrite,mud anhydrite rock containing salt,mud rock containing anhydrite and salt,lime green powder sandstone.Th e salt rock containing clay-gravel and clay-gravel salt rock containing anhydrite are most widely distributed in the drilling;(2)The DZK01 drilling containing 18 kinds of evaporite minerals:salt,anhy drite,celestite,barite,calcite,dolomite,Copper chloride,syngenite,sylvite,carn allite,albite,quartz,illite,chlorite,kaolinite,montmorillonite,hematite and ilme nite;(3)The main evaporite minerals and containing potassium mineral formation were analyzed:salt,sylvite and carnallite minerals are original formation.Anhydrite has two kinds of formation:one is the original formation;the other is when the clay-gravel containing anhydrite brought into Saline Lake,anhydrite is also brought into Saline Lake.Syngenite is original formation Mainly.
