In this paper,we present major and trace element geochemistry data of the Donggebi deposit, and determine the types and zonation of wall rock alterations and corresponding mineralization. We discuss the genesis, type, and possible age of the Donggebi deposit, and present prospecting criteria for this deposit. The Donggebi deposit is a porphyry Mo deposit. The ore bodies are controlled by the hidden Donggebi porphyrtic granite which formed at 227.6 ± 1.3 Ma and belongs to the S-type granite. The ore-forming fluids are dominantly magmatic water with minor external fluids.Wall rock alterations are characterized by silification and potassic alteration. The ore-forming process of this deposit can be summarized below.Silica and potassium-rich magmatic fluids exsolved from granitic magma, and then mixed with external fluids.During wall-rock alteration,Mo,W,Cu,Pb,and Zn were enriched in the ore fluids through leaching these metals from the wall rocks, while silica was migrated from the fluids into the wall rocks.Molybdenum and other metals finally precipitated from the fluids through temperature deceasing and long-time material exchange between the fluids and wall rocks.
