Due to population growth and water scarcity,seawater desalination has become one of the important means to solve human freshwater demand.Adsorption desalination technology using in the factory waste heat,solar energy and other renewable energy has great potential for development because of its excellent performance driven by low temperature heat source.However,at present the domestic adsorption desalination technology research is still at the theoretical analysis level,while the study of actual device development and performance has not been reported.In order to explore the industrialization prospects and provide basic data and scientific basis for adsorption desalination,the design method and working principle of adsorption desalination experiment driven by low temperature heat source of regenerative cycle was put forward to solve the status quo of adsorption desalination technology.Meanwhile,an adsorption desalination system,with water production of 10 kg/h,was designed and developed.Then,the experiment was conducted and the running performance of the system was analyzed by detection and benchmarking analysis of the product water.The main conclusions are as follows:Firstly,under the conditions of hot water inlet temperature,cooling water inlet temperature,seawater temperature and seawater spray flow rate of 83?,27?,30? and 180 L/h respectively,the system water production reaches 5.7 kg/h with the cycle time of 30 min,including a heating /cooling time of 780 s,a mass recovery and a heat recovery time of 30 s and 90 s.However,analysis shows that the unit water production per unit time is related to the cycle time and it decreases with time prolonging when the cycle time is beyond 20 min.Therefore,the system optimal cycle time is 20 min.Secondly,although the heat recovery cycle used in the system hardly increases the water production per unit time,it can recovers part of the heat to reduce the energy consumption per unit of water produced by the system.When the system cycle time is 30 min under the operation conditions,the heat recovery of each cycle is 1356.4 kJ.Finally,compared with the “Standards for drinking water quality”,in addition to volatile phenols and fluorides,all other indicators of the product water quality meet the drinking water hygiene standards.Besides,the various characteristics of the product water tend to be consistent with the traditional distilled water produced by desalination technology.
