With the development of economy, large numbers of chemicals were effluentedinto environment which put threaten to the safety of drinking water. Researchers havefound that pesticids, pharmaceuticals and personal care products (PPCPs) as well asendorine disruptor (EDCs) in water will demage people`s health to a certain degree. So,more investigations about pollutants in water and the removal effects of micropollutantsare also necessary.The target compounds in the research were benzotriazoles which are widely usedas UV stabilizers and corrosion inhibitors. Pretreatment and detection method weredeveloped at first place hiring SPE and GC-MS/MS in MRM mode respectively. TheLOD of method was between0.74-2.24ng/L for all kinds of compounds.River water samples in Harbin, Songhua River were collected from up to14spotsin different seasons. The results showed that the concentration of benzotriazoles werebetween ND to98.08ng/L.3kinds of benzotriazole derivations including BZ, TTri andXTri were detected with relatively high frequency and concentration. Among all5phenolic benzotriazoles, UV329and UV-P were chief ingredients which are differentfrom former researches. The detection rate and concentration of benzotriazoles variedfrom season to season. Moreover, in downstream rivers, all compounds were easier tobe detected with high concentration. Once polluted seriously in one spot, the river mightcollect wastewater.The results of elimination experiments in drinking water pilot units showed that,regular drinking water treatment plants such as coagulation, sedimention and fast sandfiltration made little contribution to the removal of benzotriazoles in ng/L degree. Theefficiency of oxidation by ozone was decided by both the concentration of ozone itselfand the influent concentration of pollutants. The highest removal rate in ozone unit havereached approximately20%. The combined process: ozone+activated carbon+ultrafiltration were demonstrated to hava a good elimination effect for benzotriazolesand the removal rate reached nearly50%in optimal conditions.
