In recent years, nano zinc ferrite had been widely used in magnetic fluids, biomedicine, magnetic recording media, radar absorbing material and water treatment, which were attributed to its high chemical stability, corrosion resistance, dielectric property, photocatalytic property, gas sensitivity and magnetic property. In this paper, the preparation and characterization of nano zinc ferrite and its nano composites materials were investigated, the details were as follows:(1) The nano zinc ferrite precursors were prepared by co-precipitation using ZnSO4·7H2O, FeCl3·6H2O as the starting materials and NaOH as precipitant. Then, ZnFe2O4 nanoparticles were obtained by the molten salt method. We mainly investigated the influence of reaction temperature, pH and calcination temperatures on the crystalline, morphology, size and magnetic property of nano ZnFe2O4. The results indicate that ZnFe2O4 nanoparticles possessing spinel structure with an average size of about 20 nm were obtained at 400? for 2 h. The saturation magnetization of nano ZnFe2O4 was approximately 15.5 emu/g.(2) Using zinc ferrite as the starting material, we investigated the photocatalytic degradation for Rhodamine B and dielectric properties of nano ZnFe2O4. The photocatalytic degradation experiments indicated that the RhB degradation was 86.21% after irradiation for 2 h when catalysts were calcinated at 800? and catalyst concentration was 0.1 g/L. The photo-catalytic degradation was 70.23% after repeated using, which indicated that the catalyst possessed good chemical stability and repeatability. The dielectric experiments indicated that nano zinc ferrite had a higher dielectric constant and dielectric loss with the improving calcination temperatures in the frequency range of 0?50 MHz.(3) Using recycled ABS and EPDM, thermoplastic vulcanization was prepared by dynamic vulcanization in an internal mixer, a single screw extruder or a twin screw extruder. We mainly investigated the influence of different ratio of rubber and plastic, various types of vulcanizing agent, and different amounts of vulcanizing agent on the mechanical properties of thermoplastic Vulcanization (TPV). As well as, nanocomposites were prepared using TPV, zinc ferrite prepared above and carbon black as filler, and we investigated the mechanical properties and electrical conductivities of nanocomposites.
