As a new member of magnetorheological materials,magnetorheological elastomer(MRE)has controllable and reversible modulus and fast response to magnetic field,which could be widely applicated in vibration control and vibration noise areas in the future.However,the MREs now reported have some drawbacks in mechanical properties and magnetorheological effects and so on,which affect the practical application of MREs.In response to these problems,the final target is to prepare practical MREs which have excellent mechanical properties and rheological properties in this paper.The preparation system of MREs and testing systems of static mechanical properties and dynamic mechanical properties of MREs were designed respectively.Furthermore,the effects of preparation process,grades and contents of carbonyl iron powder on mechanical properties and magneto-rheological properties of MREs were researched systematically.The results showed that:the processes of rubber mastication process,mixing process and curing temperature had a greater impact on the mechanical performances and magneto-rheological properties of MREs.Through studying MREs vulcanizated at different temperatures(128?,133?,143?),the chains of carbonyl iron powder arranged in the mix were most obvious and the magneto-modulus of MRE were optimum at 128?.The influences of different amount of plasticizer on performances of MREs were distinctive.The magneto-rheological properties and mechanical properties of MREs were optimum with the amount of 16 phr plasticizer.The addition of carbonyl iron powder improved the thermal stability,loss factor and the vulcanization of MREs,the tensile properties decreased.The best amount of carbonyl iron powder was 60wt%when the magneto-rheological properties of MREs were optimum,meanwhile the tensile strength of MREs was 10.56MPa.The impact of four carbonyl iron powder(EW,SM,SQ,CN)on the performances of MREs were different,SM carbonyl iron powder provided MREs with the best magnetorheological effect and the chains of SM were most obvious.
